Program Description
Women attorneys have been receiving mentoring – assistance with skill development and career guidance – for years. Despite this, they continue to be underrepresented at the highest levels of leadership in their firms. Recent important research indicates that sponsors are crucial in helping women over this last hurdle.

A sponsor is an individual within your organization who has a seat at the table and is willing to advocate for your legitimacy, talent and advancement. The role of the sponsor is critical because it directly addresses the most insidious obstacle to women’s advancement: unconscious gender bias. Sponsors provide the powerful backing you need to convince doubting others that you have what it takes. They advocate for your advancement, make you visible and open doors for you by connecting and promoting you to senior leadership, career opportunities and clients.

WILEF’s panel of experienced and successful women will explain how cultivating relationships with sponsors is what leadership is all about. They will address the importance of sponsorship, how it works, and how you can identify a sponsor and demonstrate that you are a valuable investment of their time and relationship capital.
